Citi has expanded its global mobile messaging service, with Citi Commercial Cards (CCC) launching global mobile alerts for cardholders and programme administrators (PAs) in 66 countries across Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) and Asia.
It says that Citi’s commercial cardholders will now have the ability to receive short message service (SMS) alerts or email alerts to indicate key events such as when their statement is ready, their payment is due or past-due, and when a replacement card has been mailed to them. Subscribed users will also be able to select the time zone, day and hour when they would like to receive their alerts.
As part of the global roll out, CCC is launching five new alerts for participating US organisations. Of these two are real-time, dubbed ‘on-demand’ alerts by Citi, and three are subscription alerts. The ‘on-demand’ alerts will allow CCC cardholders to proactively check their account balances or their recently processed transactions by typing in a short command to ‘GOCITI’. CCC says that it plans to add further enhancements to its global alerts offering later this year.
Despite being behind the likes of Europe and China, the US payments industry is now rapidly advancing, said Anish Kapoor, CEO of AccessPay told GTNews in an exclusive interview.
Treasurers are more interested in cross-border payments and automation than real-time payments, as they are consistently asked to do more with less, argues Rick Burke, head of corporate payments at TD Bank in an exclusive interview.
