LyondellBasell, a large plastics, chemical and refining company, has appointed Karyn Ovelmen as executive vice president (EVP) and chief financial officer (CFO), replacing Kent Potter who has informed the company of his intent to retire.
Ovelmen most recently served as EVP and CFO of Petroplus, Europe’s largest independent refiner and wholesaler of petroleum products. She also served as EVP and CFO of Argus Atlantic Energy, the predecessor to Petroplus. Prior to that, she served as vice president of external reporting and investor relations for The Premcor Refining Group. Ovelmen also spent 12 years with PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), primarily serving the energy industry.
Ovelmen received a BA degree from the University of Connecticut. She is a certified public accountant (CPA).
