NextWave Pharmaceuticals, an emerging specialty pharmaceutical company, has appointed Cynthia Butitta as senior vice president (SVP), chief financial officer (CFO). Butitta is an experienced fiscal and operational executive with more than 20 years of leadership in both the biotechnology and high-technology industries. She will report to Jay Shepard, president and chief executive officer (CEO).
Prior to joining, Butitta served as chief operating officer (COO) and CFO of Telik, which she helped grow from 40 employees to more than 170 employees and raised more than US$500m through an initial public offering (IPO) and subsequent follow-on offerings. She also previously held the position of CFO/vice president of finance and administration for Connetics.
