Standard Chartered Bank has appointed Venkatesh (Venky) Sethuraman as managing director, Asian equities sales. He will be based in Singapore and report to Craig McGee, head of southeast Asian equities.
Sethuraman brings more than 15 years of experience in equities sales and sales trading in Asia. He was most recently managing director, head of equities, Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), with Citigroup Global Markets, Singapore, where he managed teams across the region and was responsible for the product and development franchise in new markets such as Indonesia.
Prior to that, Sethuraman was head of sales/sales trading, for Citigroup global markets, Mumbai, India. He has also held senior positions in equities sales roles with securities firms in India.
A report by broking group Marsh examines the repercussions from the administration of the South Korean company, which filed for bankruptcy protection at the end of August.
