Standard Chartered Bank has appointed Tom Welch as global head of cash equities sales. Based in Hong Kong, Welch starts immediately and reports to Tim Andrew, global head of cash equities.
In this position, Welch will be responsible for leading Standard Chartered’s efforts to expand cash equities sales initiatives. He brings to Standard Chartered more than 16 years of extensive industry experience across Asia. He was most recently based in Hong Kong with Deutsche Bank as head of research sales for Asia ex-Japan. Welch also held positions at Merrill Lynch, as head of equity sales for Asia ex-Japan, and with Morgan Stanley in equity sales.
As part of the Standard Chartered Bank’s equities team build out, the bank recently also appointed Craig McGee as head of southeast Asian equities and head of sales trading (Singapore), Kim Yong Kook as head of cash equities in Korea and Richard Stone as global head of cash equities sales trading.
