Blue Bamboo’s H50 Terminal has obtained MasterCard point-of-sale terminal security (PTS) certification, becoming the first Java based GlobalPlatform device to achieve this approval. PTS is a global security evaluation program announced by MasterCard in 2005, targeting the security of Internet Protocol-enabled (IP) stand-alone POS terminals. According to MasterCard, by addressing the interface of POS terminals to open networks using open protocols, the PTS program compliments existing security programs that already address merchants or POS terminals. Blue Bamboo’s H50 is a handheld POS terminal with configurable communication modules supporting GPRS, Bluetooth, and dial-up connectivity.
