MarketAxess has appointed Iain Baillie, former managing director for Schroder Salomon Smith Barney (SSSB), to head its European operations. Most recently, Baillie served as a managing director and head of investment grade secondary trading for SSSB in Europe. During his 15-year tenure, he achieved success across many different trading functions, evolving his roles and responsibilities with the rapidly changing nature of both SSSB and the international capital markets as a whole. Prior to joining SSSB, Baillie co-founded and was a management team member of Luthy Baillie Dowsett & Pethick, a research-driven agency brokerage firm that specialized in less liquid credit instruments.
