Moody’s Investors Service has named Richard Cantor to the new position of Managing Director – Ratings Research and Analysis in the Global Ratings and Research Group, Moody’s credit ratings business. Moody’s Default Study team, headed by David Hamilton, will report to Cantor. Most recently, Cantor was a Senior Vice President in Moody’s Financial Guarantors Group. Cantor also will co-chair Moody’s Academic Advisory and Research Committee with Roger Stein, Managing Director of Quantitative Risk Analytics-Moody’s Risk Management Services (MRMS), through which Moody’s is expanding its traditional credit rating services franchise by providing quantitative risk analytic products. This newly-formed committee of leading academic experts from Europe and North America will meet periodically to discuss research and developments in credit markets and credit risk management. Cantor joined Moody’s in 1997 from the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, where he was a research officer in the Capital Markets Department. He received a Ph.D. in economics from Johns Hopkins University and was an assistant professor of economics at UCLA and Ohio State University prior to joining the Fed.
