Sir Alan will be a key member of CSFB’s Global Research Department, working with their established team of economists and strategists to advise CSFB and their clients on the outlook for the UK and global economies. Sir Alan will work closely with CSFB’s Fixed Income and Derivatives division, its Equities division and Investment Banking Division. Sir Alan was a member of the interest-rate setting Bank of England Monetary Policy Committee until May 1999. Prior to that, he was Chief Economic Adviser to HM Treasury, and Head of the Government Economic Service, from 1991 to 1997. He was also Group Economic Adviser at Barclays Bank from 1988 to 1991 and Director of the Centre for Economic Forecasting at the London Business School for eight years
