Managing Director, Investment Management Group (IMG)
Gerry Barber is responsible for leading the investment management group (IMG) team in Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA). The IMG provides a consultative sales support function to all businesses where clients are seeking solutions and advice around short term cash investment. The primary objective of his role is to build an agenda and strategic plan for growing and improving the capabilities and increasing revenues. Since joining BNY Mellon in 2007, Barber has been appointed to the company’s European asset and liability committee and financial markets and treasury services operating committee. Barber’s career in banking and investment spans 30 years. He has enjoyed many years’ product development across a range of investment classes, starting his career in foreign exchange (FX) with Midland Bank International in London before joining the life and pensions industry. Following a successful sales career, he spent 10 years with Old Mutual as an investment product manager for their international investment companies that provided solutions to clients in EMEA, Asia and Latin America. In 2001, Barber was recruited by an international private bank in the UK and was their global head of product development.
